Field Hunter

Hello everyone (: Last week I wrote about the fox fur and that was a topic really sad because the people that do that, use a lot of cruel methods to take the fur off the animal. But today I’m going to write about something interesting. I’m going to write about other animals that I love! Horses. Horses are one of my favorite animals, I love riding! (:

Well, first, a field hunter is a horse that is ridden for fox hunting. The term field hunter don’t refer to a specific type of horse, the term refers more to the function of the horse during the hunt. The performance of the horse is measured by their abilities to jump and the galloping speed. It is important to know that these horses have the necessity to gallop with dogs and other horses around, because if the horses start to uncontrolled, the rider are not going to be able to shoot.  Also, the horses need to be five years old to participate as field hunters.

Some characteristics that a horse needs to have to work; as field hunters are that they need to have straight legs, stamina and sure footedness. Also, it is important that the horse must be conditioned and trained before the first hunt, these is because if the horse is not training, they are not going to be able to calm when the rider is going to shoot.

To conclude these post, I think that horses are beautiful animals and I love ridding, also, I think that horses are really smart and reliable. When I started to learn riding I was very scared, but Mancha (that was the name of the horse) made learning easier because he was so calm and cute and well, at the end my father bought Mancha for me (:

  1. Hello Diana (: hey this post is good hehe first I thought you were going to talk just about horses instead of foxes and I was like "oh! Well, she decided to change her topic :P" no, but then I saw it was something related to foxes, that these horses are used for fox hunting. You know, I had forgotten about that, but horses are really useful for hunting along with the dogs right? It is interesting to know that these horses are called like that because of what they do and not because they are a “type” of horse; they remembered me of other horses that are called draft horses or percheron horses that work to produce beer, but they do are called like that because of their “type”. About these field hunters, I did not know it was that important for them to gallop with other horses and dogs because they would get uncontrolled if they did not; the mind of the horse can get confused and follow their instincts, so the rider must train the horse really well and know him or her in order to improve the hunt. Also, when a lot of people might think that any horse is good for hunting, then you say that the horses must be trained and have physical traits like straight legs; I agree with you, I don’t think any horse can do that, maybe other horses get tired more quickly, and also these horses might be better than camouflage cars because they are part of the natural environment and they can camouflage better, I think. Hehe hey! And I think it is awesome that your Dad bought you the horse (: it is cute, do you still have it? (:
