Red Foxes
The red foxes are my favorite specie of foxes. They are cute and they have a lot of interesting facts, so, I decided to talk about them.
The red fox is the most common fox. They can live in different areas like forests, mountains and deserts. This kind of fox also adapt to the human environment like the farms and large communities.
The red fox are omnivores, they eat the rodents, rabbits and birds that they hunt, but they can also adapt their diet to the food of their home. They can eat fruits, fish, frogs and even pet food. Red foxes are usually nocturnal; they look for food in the night while other animals are sleeping.
They use their ears and the nose to hunt their food. They can make holes in the trees to live there, or they can also live in prairies and farmlands.
The season of the red fox mates is on January. Two months after the mating, the female gives birth between one and twelve kits. The mother has the responsibility to feed the kits with some fruits, but eventually, she needs to start brining them live food so the kits can play with the food and eat it. This is because they need to develop skills for hunting. A kit leaves their family when he is about eight months old.
Foxes can act like cats. First, they stalk they prey, the same thing that the cats do. Also, they play with their food after kill it, like cats. And even if they are not hungry they catch mice to play with and then they let them go when they are done.

Hello Diana! I found your post very interesting and the Red fox has become my favorite fox too. I never thought the Red fox could be so adaptable at the point that can even live of pet food. Also the similitude it has with the cats, when I always thought foxes where more like dogs.

The red foxes are pretty interesting animals; they have habits I never imagined they would have! Like the holes in the tree some of them use to live in.
I would like visit a forest or a farm to watch the red foxes and how they behave, I’m really curious about it. Even if they seem a very common fox species, they are not common at all!
Before I read this, I knew there was a white fox, it would be interesting if you could talk about the Arctic fox (I think that the name of this white fox). I would like to know more about all different kind of fox and which of them are endangered, so we could be aware and we could do something to stop the hunting of all these foxes that we are all sure that they are very important for the environment.
Thank you Diana for sharing this valuable information :)
Hi! (: I liked this post of yours, the information you included is interesting, all those facts about how they live, what they eat and how they can live with humans. And eat pet food. I also like red foxes, I think they are very cute and if I could have one as a pet, I would have it; the good thing that you say is that they can act like cats, so when I get one I will say I bought an “exotic” cat ;P. It is also interesting that foxes can adapt to humans and the domestic environment like farms, when foxes seem to be very wild animals. Have you read “the little prince” or seen the movie? There is a very cute part when the little prince becomes friends with a fox(: The prince comes to the same place in the forest every day (because he had nothing to do) and the fox gets confidence and gets used to it and even starts to like the prince, and they become friends to the point that the fox waited for him every day. You have to see it if you haven’t. There is also a new (and weird) movie called “Fantastic Mr. Fox” if you want to see it….ok :P. I did not know that foxes were nocturnal, I thought they would just hunt on the day, and sleep…at night. So that is interesting too, because even though they don´t seem nocturnal animals, they are; they don’t have black fur to camouflage but they can succeed in being nocturnal anyways.
